The Russian Embassy in Washington wishes to voice its support to our colleagues in London.
By making the decision to expel 23 Russian diplomats under a farfetched pretext London shows that it is not interested in getting to the bottom of the incident, but rather moved by entirely different motives.
They use old-school tricks of propaganda warfare meant to greatly influence the uninformed and easily impressed public. No facts were presented apart from groundless conclusions on the “Russian trail” in the Solsbury incident. Russia has nothing to do with it and stands ready for a joint investigation.
It is reckless to talk to Russia through ultimatums. No one has ever achieved anything by threatening our country.
British attempts to form another anti-Russian “front” from its allies while neglecting all rules and procedures (including the ones of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) look entirely cynical.
Life should have taught the West that a Russian response to such actions will be soon to follow.
We are confident that our friends in the Russian mission will come out of these inappropriate actions of the host country with dignity. We regret that Britain will remain in their memories in such a disreputable manner.
Diplomats are people, who are committed to their tireless work on developing better relations with the host country apart from defending interests of their homeland. Attack against them is a sign of weakness and lack of arguments.
