Maria Butina has already spent 19 days in prison under farfetched accusations
On August 2, 2018 Russian Embassy’s employees visited our citizen Maria Butina, who was arrested by the U.S. authorities. She has already spent 19 days in prison under farfetched accusations.
Maria resiliently withstands all hardships and tries to adapt to them. She is in good health, although her requests for dental aid are being ignored.
She was finally allowed to make phone calls. However, she was unable to reach her parents - the prison administration refers to so-called “technical issues” as an excuse. We continue to look into this issue.
Maria thanks her friends, close ones and all those, who believes in her innocence - one she stands strongly to prove, for their unyielding support.
We will continue to regularly visit our compatriot, provide her with consular and any other necessary assistance.
