Mr. Igor Butman marked the opening of a new Fall performance season at the Embassy of the Russian Federation
On October 22, 2015 the Moscow Jazz Orchestra of Russian saxophonist Mr. Igor Butman marked the opening of a new Fall performance season at the Embassy of the Russian Federation to the U.S. in Washington, D.C. The Thursday’s night concert was also a seasonal premiere for the Carmel Institute of Russian Culture and History (CIRCH) of the nation's capital American University (AU).
The event was hosted jointly by famous Washingtonian philanthropist Ms.Susan Lehrman and the Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission Mr.Denis Gonchar. AU History professor and Institute director Mr.Anton Fedyashin proudly highlighted that after the Jazz concert, total amount of people attending the events aimed at Russian culture’s promotion in D.C. area surpassed 15 thousand during the last 4 years.
Currently Igor Butman and Moscow Jazz Orchestra are conducting another U.S. tour which includes performances in Florida, New-Jersey, Pennsylvania and New-York. According to Maestro, these kind of regular tours are “essential for self-esteem”. “We always have large attendance and receive a very positive feedback to our concerts,” – Mr.Butman clarified, - And the musicians can see that there's a great demand in the U.S. for everything we’ve been working on, while America itself has many great national jazz artists and orchestras”.
