The newly-formed Carmel Institute of Russian Culture and History has announced its arrival with a symposium at the American University in Washington, D.C. devoted to “The Strength of Cooperation: Lessons from the Grand Alliance, 1941-1945.”
The Carmel Institute offers screenings of classic Soviet and Russian films with discussions led by visiting experts. Academic conferences, student exchanges, musical and theater performances, art exhibits, and other events are held at American University, the Embassy of the Russian Federation, and other locations around the Washington Metropolitan area. The Carmel Institute supports Russian language study and new courses on Russian literature, film, culture and history at American University to promote new perspectives on Russia among Americans, both young and old. We know that many small steps can add up to a positive and permanent footprint for the future.
